March 1, 2003: Teacher Training Workshop
March 2, 2003 - It's a Yoga Party!

The inaugural session of the Kids’ Yoga Teacher Training, ‘to inspire kids with the wonder, the power, the practice and the love of Yoga!’ was launched at the headquarters of the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation in Vancouver, B.C. Thirty enthusiastic and young-at-heart participants gathered to gain insight and skills in bringing Yoga to children of all ages.  The first day, a full 9 - 5 immersion in Kids’ Yoga land, was an adventurous journey designed to give people hands-on experience of the theory, knowledge, and information required to structure, build, teach and promote Yoga classes for children.

Beautiful Jericho Hill Center, with its wall to wall windows overlooking the Pacific shore and coastal mountains, was the site of Day 2.  In a 3-hour reunion,  65 adults and children joined in the celebration of our Yoga Party.  It was truly remarkable to see everyone focused, attentive, and creative,  working individually, creatively, with partners, and all together. From the young to the ‘older’ young, all rose to the Yoga challenge, relaxed and breathed, were creative, thoughtful, silent, and captivated. We sang, danced, and feasted and everyone left  happy, knowing that we had created something wonderful that we would remember for a long, long time!
